  1. I learnt that Valerie Adams has comfortably won her third Commonwealth Games shot put gold medal. Valerie Adams was head and shoulders above the competition, throwing 19.88m to blow the competition away.

  9. I learnt that Darcina Manual from Gisborne won a bronze medal in the 57 kg category at the commonwealth games in Scotland Glasgow 2014.

  10. I learnt that Twenty year old Julia Ratcliffe of Hamilton has won the silver medal in the women’s hammer throw. Julia Ratcliffe threw a best of 69.96m to finish 2 metres behind the winner Sultana Frizell of Canada. Julia Ratcliffe says she’s a little overwhelmed with the result but very proud.This is Julia's first big competition as she hopefully builds towards the Olympics.
